OneRepublic is an American rock band formed in Colorado. They have drawn mainstream attention since the release of their hit single, "Apologize", which has a remix featured on Timbaland's Shock Value.
Since summer in 2006, the band has consistently been ranked as one of the top musical acts on MySpace, due to high exposure within the online community. They were started by songwriter and record producer Ryan Tedder and his high school friend Zach Filkins in Colorado Springs. The group has since relocated to Los Angeles. After a brief stint on Columbia Records, they moved to Interscope Records/Mosley Music Group.
OneRepublic's song "Apologize" featured in remix form on Timbaland's 2007 release Shock Value. The song was released as the single in its original form on the band's new album debut. The song became a fall hit, breaking the all time record for most airplay of any song in Top 40 history. In addition the single is almost 2x platinum (2 million copies) in sales. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the week of November 6, 2007 and number three on the U.K. Official Top 40 Week on 11 November 2007.
The band performed "Apologize" live on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance on August 2, 2007. In October 2007, they performed "Apologize" on an episode of One Life to Live, along with Timbaland.
The group has recently finished recording their debut album entitled Dreaming Out Loud which was largely produced by Greg Wells (Mika, Rufus Wainwright, Deftones) with some songs produced by lead singer Ryan Tedder. It was released on November 20, 2007. Their follow up single to "Apologize" was "Stop & Stare" as announced on their MySpace page.
